Drying

I start by using a waterblade to squeegee most of the water off the car. I begin with the roof front to back, then the glass working downwards, then the hood working towards the front, followed by the doors/fenders/hatch working downwards.

I then take 3-4 microfiber towels reserved for drying, and work my way around the car as detailed above, but opening up the hatch, doors, and bonnet to get at the seams and corners. Open the bonnet and hatch first, to let them drip the excess water. With the waterblade having removed most of the water, drying the car is much easier. No need to have more than four towels.

Last, do not forget to dry the rims; water spots can collect on the painted surface. Also, dry the engine bay (the painted parts and the black engine plastic trim).

Remember how your dry towels always get dirty even after you've washed your car? If you have washed your MINI with the steps mentioned here and using the tools recommended, you should be rewarded with drying towels that are wet, but clean.

Cleaning the Glass

Using a good glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth designed specifically for glass, I can clean the MINI’s interior and exterior glass in minutes. Don’t overspray the windows and soak the cloth, let the microfiber do the work.  If you used a boar's hair brush on the glass during the wash, you can get away without using glass cleaner and only need a microfiber cloth. Clean the driver and passenger windows by first opening up the door to get at the upper top/side, then clean the rest of the inside/outside glass. Don’t forget the inside of the windshield and hatch glass.
